Nepal Opens Jugal Mountain Range for Climbing

Image
The Jugal mountain range, previously referred to as the Virgin Mountain, has been officially opened for climbing by the government of Nepal. The decision was made during a recent cabinet meeting and allows domestic and foreign climbers to access the peaks of the range. Located in the Jugal rural municipality in Sindhupalchok, the range is home to over 20 peaks below 7,000 meters and can be easily reached via road in just a few hours from Kathmandu. Local tourism entrepreneurs are optimistic about the impact the government's decision will have on the region's tourism industry. They believe that opening the peaks for climbing will attract more visitors to the district and help to boost tourism in the area. This move could also provide a new source of income for the local community, which has been heavily affected by the pandemic.
